FEEDERplus8, an eight-axis robot from Strothmann, moves and positions parts

The FEEDERplus8, from Strothmann Machines & Handling, Marietta, Ga. (www.strothmann.com/e_index.php), is an eight-axis robot intended to move and orient parts, usually blanks destined for complex dies and parts being removed from dies. It is sized to fit in gaps between press tables of 6,500 to 11,000 mm. The coordinated movement of the eight axes lets the feeder handle 10 to 12 ppm. It is designed for payloads of about 264 lb, including blank, tooling, and tooling adapter. A pneumatic subsystem compensates for vertical loads for accuracy. The unit can be equipped with a toolchanger, which mounts to a crossbar.
