Designing flexibility into a winding system with rolling ring linear motion

Many linear motion technologies exist to accommodate traverse winding systems. Also called level winding, these systems use reciprocating linear motion to traverse wire, fiber, rope, or other material, onto a reel or spool. Rolling ring linear motion enables a variable speed reciprocating motion system without clutches, cams or gears. This simplifies design and operation and saves the designer time. Rolling ring linear motion has been used for spooling and winding processes for over sixty years.
