Machine safety is now something you can learn about in movie theaters.

A movie from Siemens Energy & Automation Inc. touts the competitive advantages of safety. The movie premiered in 45 theaters across the U.S. last month.

Machine safety is now something you can learn about in movie theaters. Siemens Energy & Automation Inc. produced the movie, Safety: Uncover the Competitive Advantage, to highlight the strategies that let manufacturers meet changing industry safety standards. The film also shows how to control operating costs through risk mitigation and improve productivity by making safety foremost in the design process.

"Safety education is critical," declares Tom Kopansky, vice president of Siemens Energy & Automation. "More than 72% of the control engineers responding to a national survey were not aware of all the recent and dramatic changes in safety standards."

The 45-min full-screen movie features insights from industry safety leaders. A question-and-answer session with safety experts follows the presentation, which ends with safety displays and live demonstrations.

Attendees get a Safety Workbook that holds reference materials for on-the-job use such as the latest OSHA standards, a guide to risk assessment, advice on selecting an appropriate safety strategy, and tips for using safety for competitive advantage.

Others adding their safety expertise to the production are Astec Industries, the Association for Manufacturing, Camotion Inc., Dematic Corp., Design Safety Engineering Inc., Kuka Flexible Production Systems Inc., Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., General Motors Corp., AIAG Health and Safety, PTO, RWD Technologies, and the TUV Rheinland Group.
