“Green” and “Lean” Highlight Upcoming National Manufacturing Week

Sept. 11, 2008
For proof that sustainability and lean nowadays are hot topics, look no further than the National Manufacturing Week trade show, coming to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Chicago Sept. 23 to 25

Among the presentations: How companies can reduce their carbon footprint. Also on the agenda is a discussion about sustainability strategies guided by biomimicry. And attendees can find out how to apply Six Sigma principles to the design of machinery control systems.

Show attendees can also get updates on technical subjects, including enterprise IT, design engineering, industrial automation, sustainable manufacturing, assembly and electronics assembly, plastics and plastics processing, and medical design and manufacturing.

Exhibitwise, a design-engineering section of the show includes CAD/CAM/CAE software, precision metrology, rapid prototyping, and custom automation suppliers. The plant-engineering section, on the other hand, targets operations teams, plant-engineering personnel, and managers responsible for planning, specifying, installing, and maintaining industrial facilities. The event includes wireless, fluid-power, electric-motor, and data-device technologies, among others. An Enterprise IT section will host exhibitors in ERP, data collection, bar code, and e-commerce technologies. Finally, an industrial-automation section includes the latest in robotics, embedded systems, analytical instruments, and PC-based controllers.

National Manufacturing Week will feature 400,000 ft2 of innovative products and services from more than 2,000 exhibitors. An estimated 40,000 manufacturing personnel are expected to attend the show. For more info, visit manufacturingweek.com.
