High-Res Stepmotor Driver

The SND100 is a two-phase nano driver for stepmotors. It is a unipolar constantcurrent 24-Vdc stepper driver developed specifically for applications in OEM machine-building and semiconductor processing equipment.

Its claim to fame is an ability to execute the smallest degree step angle possible within two-phase motion technology, reaching 200,000 steps/rev when partnered with size-17 and size-23 stepper motors. A dipswitch allows selection of up to 16 different resolution-modes ranging from 1:1 to 1:1,000. This means the highest resolution available using two-phase/four-phase stepper motors will be 0.0018°. Operation at high resolution produces practically no nanoscale vibration. Inclusion of a special torque IC allows production of high running torque regardless of load or acceleration/ deceleration. Additional features include plugand-play capabilities, and an auto-currentdown function for safety. The driver weighs 120 gm and sits in a 4.75 X 3.5 X 0.5-in. case.
