Scanning for Ideas: Proportional-Valve Controller in a small Package

March 20, 2008
MVP proportional-valve controllers from White Oak Controls, West Burlington, IA (whiteoakcontrols.com), store settings in permanent memory inside their sealed 18 DIN connector bodies.

Technicians configure the units using a clip-on infrared adapter without removing or opening the housing. All input and output limits are independently adjustable, as is the current-limited output with short-circuit protection. One version, the MVP-C, sends current to a valve solenoid in response to an input signal from the control system. The MVP-F does likewise but also monitors a feedback signal. Supply voltage is 9 to 28 Vdc.
