Aug. 4, 2005
The U.S. Navy finished testing a 1,000-Nm servomotor designed for use in its DD(X) Series Stealth Destroyers.

The servomotors, made by Powertec Industrial Motors Inc., Rock Hill, S.C., will control elevation of the new ships' Advanced Gun Systems. Ed Lee, Powertec general manager, says the permanent brushless motor is the only one its size to pass Navy vibration tests.
