The Outdoor Lifestyle Vehicle (OLV) concept from Hyundai Motor Co. is the company's effort to put fun back in sport-utility vehicles at a low price. The OLV carries a four-cylinder DOHC engine with a Borg-Warner supercharger and intercooler. Up front, the OLV sits on an independent MacPherson-strut suspension with coil springs, gas-filled hydraulic shocks, and an antiroll bar. An independent double-wishbone suspension is in the rear with coil springs, gas-filled hydraulic shocks, and an antiroll bar.
Its modular roof consists of three separate panels that can be removed manually and stored and secured to the roof rack. Also, to haul large items that won't fit in the trunk, the rear window hinges up, the trunk lid lifts off, and the tailgate drops down to form a utility bed. The OLV rides on 18-in. aluminum-alloy wheels wrapped with Michelin tires.
