Harting North America, Elgin, Ill., and FCI are partnering to introduce a new standard in PushPull technology for outdoor telecom. Harting’s Outdoor PushPull I/O connector family is used for WiMAX and LTE base stations, as well as other outdoor applications. The connectors eliminate the need to stock costly cable assemblies.

Diecast parts heading back to U.S.
Die-cast parts are coming back to the U.S. from overseas. The North American Die Casting Association (NADCA) surveyed U.S. die casters who indicated that parts are returning for three reasons: concerns about part quality, customersupplier proximity, and overseas logistics. OEMs have expressed concerns with offshore quality issues and want to be closer to their supply base. According to one supplier, it is easier to do business domestically for several reasons. When issues arise, local companies are better positioned and equipped to offer support, then can turn parts around quicker, and produce better-quality parts.

    Acquisition
Microprecision Electronics has acquired the Ledco Div. of Wilbrecht Electronics Inc., both of St. Paul. The new entity will operate as Wilbrecht Ledco Inc., a Microprecision subsidiary, to provide high-quality U.S.-made microswitches, metal-foil resistors, and LED assemblies.
