The MXC6226XC MEMS is said to be the world’s smallest, fully integrated, two-axis digital accelerometer. It is made using a 0.18-μm CMOS process and advanced wafer- level packaging (WLP).

Measuring 1.2 × 1.7 × 1.0 mm, the device is available in a ball-grid-array package, and includes extensive signal-conditioning circuitry, including a DSP, for superior motion-sensing performance. Based on the company’s thermal-accelerometer technology, the MXC6226XC survives shocks (up to 50,000 g). The accelerometer detects four orientation positions, offers shake detection, and measures acceleration over a ±2-g range with an absolute 0-g offset of less than ±50 mg. The device’s I2C interface is used for communications and an interrupt pin (INT) is provided for shake and orientation detection. Operating voltage is 2.5 to 5.5 V. The accelerometer operates over a –20 to 70°C temperature range.
