The EP1908 EtherCAT box features TwinSAFE open-safety technology, which includes an IP67-rated variant for use outside of electrical cabinets and in harsh environments.

The box has eight 24-Vdc inputs to connect safety sensors via rugged and reliable M12 connectors. The unit also permits the acquisition of safety sensor signals directly on the machine instead of having to mount the I/O inside a control cabinet. Inputs can accept OSSD signals from light curtains and laser scanners. Zero-speed monitoring via encoder or proximity switch in the range of 0 to 500 Hz is also possible.
