The –CDS option SmartMotor gives users the option of using CAN communications through the D-Sub connector on top of the motor instead of through the five-pin connector on the back of the motor. A small change to the circuitry decreased the space the motor requires.

The SmartMotor is a programmable motion controller with a servomotor, drive, amplifier, and encoder all in one. Each SmartMotor can be a slave or master to any other SmartMotor, with the ability to link over 100 Smart- Motors over one CANbus.
