Arctic-grade silicone cables are designed for cold temperatures to –65°C , punishing weather, and severe operating conditions. The halogen-free and flame resistant cables are an alternative to cables of PVC, neoprene, and polyurethane — which are not as reliable as silicone in subzero temperatures.

The cable’s shock-absorbing silicone encapsulation needs no external conduit for protection, retains flexibility, and will not deform, wear, or crack due to longterm exposure to intense cold environments. In addition, the ultradurable silicone is “self-healing” from small punctures and cable jacket damage can be repaired in the field.

The cables are unaffected by hurricane-force winds, snow/ice storms, sea ice, vibration, saltwater submersion, permafrost, high heat (260°C), weld spark, physical shock, operational stress, high levels of UV rays and ozone, deicing fluids, and most chemicals.

An extrusion process allows multiple wires, power conductors, shielded pairs, coax conductors, tubing, and other design elements to be placed in a single flat cable, which controls inner component spacing, jacket thickness, and overall cable shape. It also permits a tighter bend radius, space savings, greater current-carrying capacity, noise reduction, and longer operation and flex life.
