Snaptron, Inc. has created the SQ-Series, a new series of tactile dome switch contacts. The snap domes feature a 4-leg design that creates a square shape. Benefits to this wide design include the domes being cycle rated to an industry high 10 million cycles—twice that of typical Snaptron domes. Additionally, the wide shape of SQ domes allows it to achieve high actuation forces relative to its size. The series will feature nine standard part numbers ranging in size from 4mm to 12mm, with the option to customize domes as well. All domes are stainless steel with nickel plating to improve contact resistance. The series includes a micro-dome—the SQ04200N, measuring 4mm across and 3.3mm on the side. Besides its small size, it has a 200g trip force and can be used for applications where PCB board space is limited.
