Linear translation stage

Sept. 12, 2013
The PI miCos LPS-45 linear translation stage is based on a miniaturized ceramic inertia drive and is designed to position samples along precisely guided paths of up to 1-in. long. The moving platform’s position is measured by an optical linear encoder with nanometer resolution and controlled in closed-loop operation by a compact electronic motion controller. The units are available in several versions for applications in air, vacuum, and nonmagnetic environments. The stage offers a travel range of 13 mm (½ in.) and 26 mm (1 in.) and can be scaled up for longer ranges. The piezo inertia drive provides holding forces of 10 N and runs quietly due to its operating frequency being beyond the range of human hearing.  Physik Instrumente (PI), 16 Albert St., Auburn, MA 01501, (508) 832-3456, www.pi-usa.us/products/Piezo_Motors_Stages/Linear-Motor-Precision-Positioning.php
