Summary:

Additive manufacturing/3D Printing is transforming how we design, produce, and bring products to the market, and the world’s biggest manufacturers are rapidly integrating this technology into their existing production lines.

Boyce Technology is one of the leading manufacturers of security and communication equipment for the mass transit market in New York. Since incorporating 3D printing, Boyce has seen first-hand how 3D printing can streamline their business, allowing them to cut operating costs and design geometrically without traditional limitations.

During the webinar, find out how 3D printing has revolutionized manufacturing at Boyce Technologies and discover:

  • Best practices for integrating 3D printing
  • Case studies from Boyce
  • Making the business case for investing in AM technology

Speakers:

Ajmal Aqtash, Director of Advanced Technologies, Boyce Technologies

In mid-2017, Ajmal joined Boyce Technologies Inc. (BTI) as the Director of Advanced Robotics. BTI is an R&D - Design / Engineering house with mass-production capabilities. BTI’s team consists of mechanical, electrical, thermal, RF and software engineers – paired with experienced fabricators - allhoused in a state of the art facility in Long Island City -Queens. Current efforts include projects with NYC MTA Transit, LIRR, and Verizon - dealing with telecommunications and digital kiosks. Ajmal’s responsibilities at BTI focus on partnerships, development, implementation, production and training on a wide range of robotic technologies to prototype and manufacture the future.

In late 2009, Ajmal co-founded form-ula, an award winning multidisciplinary design practice that seeks to understand the intersection of design and engineering. Form-ula is a receipt of AIA-NY 2014 New Practice Award and 2011 Architecture League Young Architects Award. Prior to form-ula, Ajmal worked on several projects for Skidmore, Ownings & Merrill LLP (SOM). The projects ranged from Super Tall Towers to large complex proposals for Airports and Universities. During his years at SOM, he assisted in pushing advanced design methods, computational techniques and sustainable design by establishing the Performative Design Group.

Since 2007 Ajmal has been teaching at Pratt Institute, School of Architecture and has an extensive background in morphology and is the Associate Director at the Center for Experimental Structures (CES), where he is currently developing in his lab next-gen-tech in Ag-Tech, Bio-Tech and Clean- Tech. He is currently scaling an Ag-Tech products at New Lab – Brooklyn Navy Yard.
