Today at Autodesk University in Las Vegas, Autodesk Inc. announced that they’re now offering a product called CAM 360, cloud-based computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software.

The software lets designers tap into the near-infinite computing power of the cloud for computation-intense conversion of designs into manufacturing plans.

It also lets designers collaborate with online and share data storage — because the software is multi-platform CNC programming not limited like traditional desktop workflows.

Unlike standalone CAM tools, CAM 360 is an integrated cloud-based software that lets designers use Autodesk’s digital-prototyping platform, including Fusion 360 modeling tools.

Even a few hours' delay can degrade manufacturing delivery times, so CAM 360 leverages Autodesk HSM technology to boost efficiency and effectiveness for the entire supply chain. (In October 2012, Autodesk acquired pieces of software from HSMWorks based in Copenhagen, Denmark, including HSM software to control machines and machine tools for manufacturing.) That way, designers can proactively address problems in manufacturing with fast and flexible design changes.

CAM 360 builds upon Autodesk’s existing suite of cloud service offerings for manufacturers, which provide designers universal access to flexible tools to create, simulate, and convert digital prototypes into physical products.
