To meet this need, designers at Nexen Group Inc., Vadnais Heights, Minn. (nexengroup.com), have developed the RLSS Series of spring-engaged, air-release rod locks. These devices engage without moving or harming the rod, and have little backlash. They consistently exert uniform clamping forces on rods and use bearings to reduce friction and extend the life of the lock to over 3 million cycles. An air-boost feature increases stopping power. The locks fit rods with diameters of 16, 20, 25, 32 mm and are IP67 rated for washdowns.
