Product Spotlight: Tapered-Roller Bearings

March 6, 2008
Line of high-carbon chromium steel tapered-roller bearings consist of four basic components: The cone (inner ring), the cup (outer ring), tapered rollers, and a cage (roller retainer).

The cone, cup, and rollers (cone assembly) carry the load while the cage spaces and retains the rollers on the cone. Through-hardened bearings are standard and casehardened bearings are available.

Through-hardened bearings have a consistent hardness throughout the component while case-hardened bearings have surface hardening combined with a tough, flexible core.

The bearings offer dimensional stability under heavy loads, long life in harsh and contaminated environments, and a durable steel cage.

They are dimensionally interchangeable with other bearing products.

Standard stock sizes include 15 to 240-mm (0.59 to 9.45-in.) ID to 35 to 40-mm (1.38 to 15.75-in.) OD.
