Chevy Nomad

With a definite departure from the norm, the Chevy Nomad concept is a new spin on the 1954 Nomad concept. Chevy says it's not a sedan, wagon, SUV, nor does it fit in any vehicle category.

With a definite departure from the norm, the concept is a new spin on the 1954 Nomad concept. Chevy says it's not a sedan, wagon, SUV, nor does it fit in any vehicle category. Based on GM's Kappa architecture (loosely translated into the rear-wheel-drive platform used for the new Pontiac Solstice), the Nomad carries independent front and rear suspensions attached to a chassis using full-length hydroformed frame rails as its foundation.A turbocharged 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine puts out 250 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque. A Hydra-Matic electronically controlled five-speed automatic transmission features finger-operated tap shifting.

The Nomad has a removable roof panel and a folding tailgate with a sliding cargo floor. The cargo floor extends over the folded tailgate so items placed on the load floor can be pushed back into the cargo area. Three folding options for the rear seat increase cargo space. Black leather, aluminum trim, blue anodized-aluminum gauges, and blue lighting give the interior the feel of a martini bar.
