All quiet on the hydraulic front

July 26, 2007
The AV10VSO Series 32 medium-pressure axial piston pump from Bosch Rexroth Corp., Hoffman Estates, Ill. (boschrexroth.com), generates 3-dBA less airborne noise than its predecessor, according to the manufacturer.

The optional precompression volume cuts pressurization pulsation in half and reduces fluid-borne noise. And the housing was designed using modal analysis to reduce body-borne noise.

Engineers also improved the rotary group and suction channel, increasing pump efficiency by 3%. These improvements help the pump resist sudden reductions in suction pressure, as well as pressure spikes. A new generation of valves lets operators make leak-free adjustments and increase output pressure.
