The National Design Engineering Show once again makes it way to McCormick Place in Chicago.

The National Design Engineering Show once again makes it way to McCormick Place in Chicago. From Mar. 18 to 21, 1,000 exhibitors will display the latest tools, components, and materials used in mechanical and electromechanical design and product development.

The show floor is divided into technology-specific areas for easy navigation. Attendees can find what they're looking for in the following pavilions: CAD/CAM, Ceramics, Contract Manufacturing, Expansion and New Sites, Medical Design, NASA Solutions Center, Plastics, and Rapid Prototyping. The Motion Hall, sponsored by the Power Transmission Distributors Association and Small Motors & Motion Association, features more than 100 exhibitors showcasing new advances in power-transmission, electromechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components and control systems.

NDES is part of National Manufacturing Week, which is also comprised of National Industrial Enterprise IT, National Industrial Automation, and National Plant Engineering MRO and Management shows. One badge grants access to all four shows.

In addition to the exhibition, several conference sessions will be held throughout the week to educate attendees on mechanical and electromechanical design and product development. Keynote speakers for the event include Dr. James Truchard, president, CEO, and cofounder of National Instruments, who will discuss how smart sensors, networking technologies, and next-generation measurements improve monitoring, diagnostics, and control in manufacturing. Don Klaiss, senior vice-president of Manufacturing and Supply Chain Development for Oracle Corp., will talk about how to make supply chains faster, more responsive, and more productive.
