Capsules for delayed release of substances are available in sizes from 0.5 to 2,000 µm. Liquids or solids are wrapped in a membrane made from synthetic or natural polymer or lipid. The membrane isolates and protects active agents from the environment. The encapsulated product is released either through diffusion through the membrane or when the membrane breaks.
