Structural-foam inserts

Betafoam structural-foam inserts (SFIs) improve vehicle body stiffness and handling performance, according to the manufacturer.

They nest seamlessly into sheet-metal cavities. The polyurethane SFIs are molded into preformed geometries and, when cured, are overmolded with Betamate structural adhesive using resin-transfer molding. The epoxy adhesive expands, rigidly bonding foam parts to the surrounding steel structure during thermal processing.
