Miniature Digital Servodrive

Oct. 20, 2005
The Whistle digital servodrive weighs 1.76 oz and measures 2 cu in. yet delivers up to 500-W continuous (1-kW peak) power at 99% efficiency.

The drive may be mounted in the motor housing or other close proximity and interfaces to brush dc, brushless pm, linear, and voice-coil motors with any type of sinusoidal or trapezoidal current control. Several models cover the range from 1 A and 60 V through 5 A and 100V. Power requirements are 7.5 to 95 Vdc. A smart-supply control algorithm enables the unit to operate from a single power supply.
