Magnetic Rotary Encoders

Aug. 18, 2005
The AS5045 line of magnetic rotary encoders provide absolute angle information in a digital format.

They target motion-sensing applications when a resolution below 0.1 degree of angle is required. The AS5045 provides 12-bit resolution at speeds below 1,000 rpm. They provide angular position information in the form of a serial data stream and as a PWM signal with a resolution of 4,096 ppr (0.09°/step). These encoders offer user-programmable zero-position setting and diagnostic features as well as the option to daisy chain several devices. The AS5045 operates at either 3.3 or 5 V. The operating temperature ranges from 40 to 125°C and comes in a lead-free SSOP16 (5.3 6.2 mm) package.
