FEA For PLM

Aug. 24, 2006
Version 2.3 of Abaqus FEA software for the Catia V5 PLM package lets companies perform multidisciplinary analysis throughout the enterprise.

V2.3 allows modeling shell structures with continuum shell elements, so users can employ actual CAD geometries rather than determining an approximate midplane and appropriate offsets. This simplifies modeling and makes simulations involving contact more accurate. The program also includes spot, seam, and surface-weld modeling. Connection locations can be independent of the underlying mesh, which reduces model size and complexity of meshing requirements.
