Precision Spindles Offer High-Speed Machining

March 17, 2005
ProMetrix, a customizable line of belt-driven spindles, lets engineers choose from a large variety of standard options

, including high-speed hybrid ceramic bearings to meet machining requirements. The hybrid bearings minimize heat generation and improve seizure resistance to allow speeds of 2,000,000 DmN and higher with minimal thermal distortion. The ProMetrix spindles handle 12,000, 15,000, 18,000, and as high as 20,000 rpm. Spindles are available in block, cluster, and cartridge designs and can be configured to include a variety of bearing configurations, lubrication methods, spindle noses, belt drives, and drawbars. They feature a 100% metric design, permanent grease-packed or air-oil lubrication, Class 7 extra-precision ball bearings and can be applied at any attitude including horizontal, vertical, angular, ceiling and side-wall mounted.
