Cushioning For Air Cylinders

May 10, 2007
Ideal cushioning for air cylinders uses measurement technology and lab-proven guidelines to boost cylinder throughput and reduce noise and wear.

The ISO/VDMA cylinder line, cushions can be adjusted to reduce cycle time, noise, and vibration, as well as increase air life. Direction of travel is the same throughout the cushioning sequence and velocity is exactly zero when it reaches the end of its travel. Sequence steps include measuring piston velocity in both directions, adjusting speed to conform to a maximum for a given pressure and cylinder load, and then adjusting the cushions.
