New Product: Remote I/O controller

Nov. 8, 2007
RIO-47100 (RIO) remote I/O controller connects to the Ethernet and lets users add inputs and outputs to a variety of motion and nonmotion applications.

Each RIO unit is self-contained and provides numerous analog and digital I/Os, including eight analog inputs, eight analog outputs, 16 optically isolated inputs, eight high-power isolated outputs up to 500-mA each, and eight low-power isolated outputs up to 25-mA each. And several can be distributed on an Ethernet network for I/O expansion.

The controller contains a RISC processor for handling I/O logic at high speeds. It also provides on-board memory and multitasking, freeing the host computer and motion controller for other tasks. The unit has both an Ethernet 10/100 Base-T port and an RS-232 port up to 115 kbaud. Other standard features include easy programming, a Web interface that permits viewing status and changing I/O states without installing additional software, and e-mail capability that lets messages be sent remotely. The RIO can receive power from Powerover-Ethernet or low-power applications, or from an external supply of 18 to 36 Vdc for high-power devices such as relays. LEDs show digital inputs and outputs. It measures 3.88 x 4.26 x 1.30-in., is packaged in a metal enclosure with D-type connectors for convenient interface.
