Software Combines CAD with CAM

Oct. 21, 2004
VX V10 offers sophisticated hybrid modeling, two to five-axis CAM, and the VX kernel.

VX V10 provides a comprehensive selection of mold components, such as the mold base.

The CAD/CAM software has a shorter ROI and learning curve than most programs. New features include Morphing, tools that let users drag, pull, and warp model geometry, and tools that provide dimensional precision and symmetry. Reverse Engineering includes a new toolbar with point-cloud manipulations such as grouping, thinning, sectioning, and surfacing. Point blocks or groups define tessellated (STL) face geometry and prepare it for CNC machining. Intelligent 2D sections include tools for automatic, associative 2D drawing layouts. Intelligent import editing includes hole-feature recognition and improved duplicate face filtering. If draft angles on imported geometry needs modification, VX will recompute fillet faces that surround the drafted faces. A built-in standard-parts library is aimed at mold and die designers. Optional third-party libraries deliver thousands of standard mechanical engineering component models.
