Component-Class AC Drive

Sept. 28, 2006
The Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 40P ac drive has encoder or pulse-train input that allows configured closed-loop control for improved speed regulation, basic position control, or other pulse inputs for motor control.

A StepLogic function lets the drive work as an independent position controller for simple time, digital-input, or communications-based indexpositioning applications, eliminating the need for a separate position controller. The unit features an optional DriveGuard safety relay that lets users shut down a section of an application for maintenance, while keeping the remaining sections running without removing power to the drive and I/O. A drive-plate version is available that reduces the cabinet size by allowing the drive to be mounted to an external heat sink. The drive is available in power ratings from 0.4 to 11 kW and in voltages of 240, 480, and 600 V.
