Single-Axis ICs

Aug. 24, 2006
MC73110 Motor Control ICs use field-oriented control (FOC) to run brushless dc motors.

An on-chip a/d converter lets the MC73110 digitize analog current feedback for multiple methods of current control. The chips can perform Hall-based and sinusoidal commutation. Other features include running a PID velocity loop, PI current loop compensation, trajectory generation, encoder input, and Hall-sensor input. Analog or digital command input, profile generation, and six-signal symmetric PWM waveform generation are standard. The chips can operate as stand-alone intelligent motion ICs or via serial commands as programmable axis controllers. Packaging is a 64-pin thin quad flat pack.
