Fully encapsulated electronics and an IP67 rating let the system withstand washdown environments, shock, and vibration. Multifunctional I/Os means no separate input and output modules, reducing system costs. The machine is completely independent from the controls and fieldbus. If end users require a different fieldbus, the machine builder need only change the bus coupler; the I/O periphery needs no modification.
