The Super NTY 3 multitasking turning center from Nakamura-Tome offers 100% stock-on turning and machining, eliminating lost productivity due to tool changes. The machine's three Y-axis turrets allow one-pass complete turning/machining/finishing and reduce part-cycle times. Multipoint machining with process integration combines turning and milling capabilities in one machine. Three 6,000-rpm milling motors simultaneously machine two flat surfaces (top and bottom) on one spindle and one surface on the other. Each turret holds 12 driven or 24 stationary tools with a maximum of 72 tool stations. Y axes have 2.44 in. of travel. Machine features include 29/20 hp for shaft/work turning with synchronized spindles; maximum 6.89-in. turning diameter and 23.5-in. turning length; and 1.65-in. bar capacity. A Fanuc 31iA CNC control with nanometer resolution provides smooth movement and high accuracy.
