During service, the liners produce only fine debris rather than solid pieces or chunks of metal, resulting in less buildup, which can lead to blocked well production. The annealed strips form easily, resist corrosion and cavitation, are nonmagnetic and nongalling, and have highly uniform compositions. They come in a wide range of thicknesses. ToughMet 3 is also available as a casting (T3 CX) and wrought (T3 AT) rods and tubes and can replace steel, composites, bronzes, and babbitted bearings in equipment such as petroleum mud motor rotors and stators, heavy-equipment transmission thrust washers, chemical-processing valves, and heavily loaded journal bearings.
