Linear/Rotary Dual-Motion Actuator

Sept. 2, 2004
The Size-14 linear/rotary dual-motion actuator can move its output shaft with incremental rotational and linear.

The two degrees of freedom in movement can be actuated independently or concurrently. The actuators can be run using a two-axis stepper-motor driver and chopper and/or microstepping drives. The Size 14 delivers up to 50-lb thrust and 18 oz-in. of torque. The rotary part is a 1.8° step angle and capable of being microstepped for finer resolutions. The linear portion is constructed of high-performance thermoplastic nut material. The actuators are available in resolutions ranging from 0.00012 to 0.00192 in./step. The S14 targets applications requiring precise two degrees of freedom, controllable motion, pick-and-place equipment, robotics, and a wide array of instrumentation.
