Add PMI to 3D models

Jan. 11, 2007
Solid Edge V19 CAD software includes tools for adding product-manufacturing information (PMI) to 3D models.

The company says these "smart" models support lean manufacturing and reduce the number of drawings needed for design reviews. V19 uses an intuitive approach to guide users through adding dimensions and annotations to models. In addition, users can generate and dimension 3D section views, useful for assemblies with hard-to-see internal components. A free viewer lets shop-floor workers and maintenance engineers view PMI to reduce shop-floor assembly time. PMI in the software complies with global standards including ASME Y14.41
