Rigid packaging resin

Oct. 26, 2006
K-Resin XK44 styrene butadiene copolymer (SBC) is a tough copolymer. It produces parts with low stress-whitening when blended with other styrenic polymers.

It also retains clarity and toughness when blended with crystal polystyrene or other styrenic copolymers and serves in rigid medical, electronic, personal care, and consumer packaging applications. It reportedly processes easier than other rigid packaging resins, including polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). K-Resin XK44 SBC has a low melt temperature of 350 to 425°F and requires no recrystallization. It is also nonhygroscopic, eliminating the need for drying.
