Quantify Mesh Quality

Nov. 17, 2005
Sculptor V1.7.2 performs elementquality analysis on CFD mesh files. This avoids unacceptable deformations because the software calculates each cell's volume, skew, and aspect ratio.

V 1.7.2 can also use STL files to define geometric bounds, which is useful for optimizing parts constrained by surrounding parts and from deforming beyond a certain space. A surrounding part's surface is modeled by a faceted surface in the STL file. Sculptor then determines the minimum distance between the CFDanalysis grid and the constraint surfaces to detect potential collisions. Sculptor can import and export ICEMCFD files and its interface to Nastran files has been improved.
