Module analyzes terahertz waveguides

Nov. 22, 2006
The RF Module for Comsol Multiphysics targets devices such as antennas, cavity filters, and terahertz waveguides that transmit, guide, receive, and filter electromagnetic waves with frequencies ranging from radio to optical.

The module lets users study multiphysics effects including interactions between electromagnetic phenomena with heat transfer and structural mechanics. For example, users can see how heating changes the frequency response of a microwave filter. Users can also see how close designs get to safety margins in high-power microwave waveguides and switches. The module provides a multiphysics coupling for microwave heating to make such analyses easier. Users no longer have to determine the physics, and then struggle to decide which boundaries couple them together.
