The thermoset plastic gives instrument panels, door trim, headrests, and air bags a soft, leatherlike skin that resists cracking over a wide temperature range. The site gives an overview of the polyurethane elastomer originally developed as a more high-performance, cost-effective alternative to aliphatic-isocyanate-based spray polyurethane skins. It is an aromatic-isocyanate-based plastic that creates multitone, soft-touch interior surfaces with no added material costs or additional cycle times. Elastoskin is applied either by spray or reaction injection molding.
