Dual-Sampling A/D Converter

Sept. 14, 2006
A fully integrated, dual-sampling a/d converter is designed for use in a highspeed data-acquisition system that needs low noise and high performance.

The 14-bit ADSD-1410S converter with a 10-msps sampling rate is suitable for use in medical instruments, radar I/Q, and digital-signal processors. The device comes in a 40-pin triple-wide SMT DIP. One version of the chip is rated for use between 0 and 70°, and a second for use between -55 and 125°C. Units deliver "no-missing-code" performance across the full operating temperature range. The converter's input range is ±2.5 V. Additional features include two fast-settling sample/hold amplifiers, multiplexed output buffers, a precision reference, edge triggering, and timing and control logic that operates either two, or a single-start convert pulse. The ADSD-1410S has a 76-dB signal-to-noise ratio and total harmonic distortion of -83 dB.
