Design Your Own Parts

Nov. 18, 2004
VirtualCAD integrates into any manufacturers' Web site so customers can design custom mechanical components they need and download CAD models of the parts in seconds.

VirtualCAD is aimed at manufacturer Web sites to let designers select and size common custom parts.

The software developer says its CCM (Custom CAD modeler) technology can be tailored to integrate into any Web site. Interface design is customized to match the required specifications, process, and steps. Design and Engineering rules embedded into the logic ensure the part meets manufacturing and operational requirements.

CCM is useful for custom part manufacturers without a catalog of standard parts when customers typically specify the designs themselves. Further, the part number and name of the manufacturer are "engraved" into the CAD model for future reference.
