Rack-And-Pinion Drives

Jan. 6, 2005
A wide range of helical and straight (spur) tooth rack-and-pinion drives are available off the shelf.

The drives handle such applications as axes requiring precise positioning and repeatability, traveling gantries and columns, pick-and-place robots, and material-handling systems. Capabilities include metric pitches from module 1.0 to 10.0 and linear-force capacities to 31,000 lb. Standard rack-segment lengths up to 3 m are available, with unlimited travel lengths possible by mounting segments end to end.
