New Products: Slotted Optical Switch

Aug. 21, 2008
The OPB420 Series slotted infrared optical switch is for noncontact interruptive object sensing.

The switch has an infrared LED and phototransistor housed in a right-angle plastic package that lets an opaque object block the light beam from multiple directions, including the X, Y, and Z axes.

Features include an 880-nmwavelength infrared LED with a 100-mW power dissipation, 50-mA maximum forward current, 1.7-V (If = 20 mA) maximum forward voltage , and reverse 2-Vdc voltage with reverse current of 100 A (Vr = 2.0 V). The output phototransistor has 24 and 30-V collector- emitter voltages and 100-mW power dissipation. The device operates at –40 to 85°C.
