Terminals For Controlling DC Motors

March 23, 2006
KL2532 and KL2542 I/O terminals are dc motor controllers that provide an alternative to traditional drive systems.

The I/O terminals can also control stepper motors, hydraulic valves, lifting magnets, and other devices. The 12-mm-wide KL2532 terminal can supply two 24-W dc motors with up to 1 A. The larger KL2542 terminal also handles two motors, but with ratings up to 175 W. It includes an output stage with up to 50 V of operating voltage and can supply a continuous current of 7 A (two 3.5-A outputs). The terminals handle short-term peak currents, which lead to fast accelerations. Motor connections involve only two wires.
