How to Control Devices Over the Internet

May 19, 2005
The Interactive Vocal Server (IVS) controls previously off-line equipment from fixed or mobile telephones.

Connecting the device to a thermostat, for instance, lets users change settings by voice instructions, entering a user ID, and issuing menu commands. IVS lets users personalize recorded messages, interactive menus, and the interface with connected equipment. It is available as an internal module that can be integrated directly into the electronics board or as an external device by connecting through a serial port. The device (66 28 15 mm) connects to a standard phone jack and answers incoming calls.
