Bearings Products: Metal-Polymer Bearing Retainer

July 10, 2008
Composite metal-polymer bearing retainers made from silver-coated polyamide-imide feature precision machining to keep tolerances on cage diameter, ball-pocket location, and piloting-land interface under 0.002 in.

The retainer withstands repeated autoclave cycles and speeds up to 500,000 rpm.

The silver layer is slightly porous to hold more lubricant while the silver itself provides a self-lubricating wear layer and an extra layer of protection against microbial infection. The metal and polymer layers resist reaction with moisture or harsh chemicals.
