The Valstat line of products are all snap-action devices using bimetallic elements.

The Model J(C) Series have a fold-over case design with a quick-make/quick-break switching action and offers either same or opposite-end terminations. The FCM1D Series has a drawn metal case while the FC-P2D uses a heat-resistant plastic case. Both FC devices target applications requiring vacuum impregnation. According to the manufacturer, all feature automatic reset and reliable operation in inductive applications such as motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures. The bimetallic element carries circuit current for maximum short-circuit sensitivity. Temperatures come factory preset in 5°C steps from 50 to 150°C.
